Give affection instead of food
Go vegetarian

Give crunchy vegetables to your dog once in awhile. These vegetables provide roughage and aid digestion and also carry a whole host of nutrients and vitamins. Some vegetables good to feed your dogs are  baby carrots, broccoli, celery and asparagus.

Dogs should be fed twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. However, a good way to promote weight loss is to feed small meals regularly. Hence, your dog's total calorie intake for the day can be divided into 5 or 6 smaller meals. This can help reduce behaviours of whining, barking, pawing or jumping.

Dog Diet Tips

Putting your dog on a healthy diet can go a long way. Not only will it prevent obesity, it will also ensure your dog is happy and healthy. For a balanced diet, 6 componenets to remember are:  water, proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. Below are some tips that will provide a nutritious and wholesome diet for your dog!

Sometimes, we humans mistake our dogs' want for affection for hunger. The next time your dog asks for food, pet it or take him/her or take him/her outside to play. This will distract your dog from his hunger and make playtime substitute mealtime.

Incorporating a small amount of garlic in your dogs food can help counter his/her overweight problems. Eating garlic can provide many wonderful benefits for your dog as it acts as a tick/flea repellant, boost immunity and liver health, lower blood cholestoral and help to fight bacteria.
